Shelley's myth-making power in "Ode to the West Wind" and "To a Skylark":

 

By 'myth' we generally mean an absolutely invented narrative  involving mystic people and so forth and typifying mainstream thoughts on common wonders or such different things. The beginning of myth lies in  the old days when individuals, unfit to shape theoretical conceptions, described the marvels of nature in wording relevant to their personal activities. The presentation of fantasy in verse is a much later     development.

 

Like Blake, Shelley is basically mythopoetic. Of all the Romantic Poets he is the best mythmaker. Like any remaining Romantic artists, Shelley is an admirer of nature. Be that as it may, his treatment of nature is not the same as others. The most particular component of his treatment of nature is his legend making quality. 

 

Shelley's myth-making power in "Ode to the West Wind":

 

Shelley has represented the West Wind as having a massive force of annihilating and saving. Being strong and gigantic power it drives away the dead leaves and leads the seeds to their snowy beds. It stirs the blue Mediterranean from its late spring dreams. The Mediterranean should have a cognizant life and it is hushed to rest by the delicate movement of its straightforward waters. In To a Skylark the writer has romanticized the skylark and its melody. The admiration acquires more noteworthy strength since it is appeared differently in relation to man. Shelley calls the skylark, not a bird, but rather a feeling of bliss. Untruth sees the bird taking off into the sky and listens enchanted to a surge of unconstrained tune that it spills out from a higher place. It sings and takes off increasingly elevated like a haze of fire. It is a typified euphoria which stays inconspicuous like a star of Heaven in the open air. It pours "a downpour of tune". It outperforms "Theme Hymeneal" and "Victorious Chant". It knows no "tragic satiety". Shelley has represented the skylark as having a psyche. The poet tends to it as a Spirit and solicitations it to show him its sweet musings:

 

What objects are the fountains

Of thy happy strain?

What fields, or waves, or mountains?

What shapes of sky or plain?

What love of thine own kind?

What ignorance of pain?

 

The skylark knows no torment, sluggishness and shadow of disturbance. It knows more than mortal individuals. It is the encapsulation of enduring delight and satisfaction. The skylark's melody is unadulterated and glad since its rapture is gotten from a source which is more profound than the information that can be derived from books:

 

Better than all measures

Of all delightful sound

Better than all treasures

That in books are found.

 

Subsequently Shelley's myth-making power in Ode to the West Wind is a bit unique from that in To a Skylark . The skylark, unlike the West Wind, is the symbol of happiness and joy.
